Editorial policy
Last updated · Policy in effect for drafting · review steps not yet performed
This policy describes how content is created on this site. Where a step is planned but has not yet been carried out, we say so.
Workflow
- Draft — written from trustworthy original sources, with sources listed. Performed for all current guides
- Editorial review — a human editor checks clarity, tone, structure, links and sources. Not yet performed
- Clinical review — a qualified clinician reviews medical accuracy and safety. Not yet performed
- Approved — a documented human decision that the reviewed version may be published.
- Published — only now does a guide appear in search engines, the sitemap and site search.
Approval and publication are human decisions recorded with the reviewer's name, role, date and a fingerprint of the exact text reviewed. If the substance of a guide changes after review, the fingerprint no longer matches and the guide is automatically withdrawn from the public site until it is reviewed again.
Use of AI assistance
Current drafts were prepared with AI writing assistance. AI output is treated as a first draft only. It never counts as editorial or clinical review, and it is never marked approved or published automatically.
Sources
- We prefer original, authoritative sources: NIMH and NIH, FDA, NCCIH, NICE and NHS (noting country differences), WHO and official service providers.
- We do not invent references, studies, statistics or quotations.
- Every source is recorded with the date we checked it. See sources and methodology.
What our guides will not do
- Diagnose readers or suggest which condition they have.
- Recommend an individual medication or dose, or give instructions to start, stop or taper medication.
- Promise recovery or a cure.
- Present supplements as replacements for treatment.
- Publish procedural self-harm information.
- Use stereotypes, stigmatizing language or shocking imagery.
Dates
Each guide shows when it was last updated. We change that date only for substantial changes — not because the site was rebuilt.
Corrections
If you find an error, please tell us via the contact page. Material corrections are reviewed and noted.
Planning and volume
We will not schedule more content than qualified reviewers can review. Topics are prioritized for usefulness, not for search volume alone.
